Proximity 5 PX5 – iBeacon Platform Feature Review

0

Proximity 5 recently appeared out of nowhere to announce the Beta Launch of their iBeacon management platform PX5.

Website: proximity5.com

For a Beta product, PX5 is remarkably complete with the only obvious omission being the ‘Developer’ menu which goes nowhere for now.

From our initial quick look, one of the highlight features appears to be the ability to define tasks which can be assigned to a proximity event.  Tasks can interface with external endpoints via http with the results being returned back to PX5 for relaying to your App user. Identities allow users to be passed across devices without loosing track of previous events/actions.  Fairly impressive stuff, particularly from a  beta project.

It’s also worth mentioning that Proximity 5 is a BYOB setup (bring your own beacons) so you can source your iBeacons from any one of the many iBeacon compatible hardware vendors. Tested iBeacons are listed on the Proximity 5 website.

All in all, a fairly impressive looking setup and well worth a look.
